How you pay when insurance is involved
The short version: your insurer pays for covered damage, you pay your deductible and anything you choose to upgrade.
Your deductible
You’re responsible for your policy deductible. In Texas, contractors can’t legally waive or cover it, so be wary of anyone who offers.
Covered damage
Paid by your insurer, usually in installments. Your mortgage company may co-sign checks and release funds in stages; we work with that process.
Your upgrades
Want quartz instead of laminate or a bigger shower? Upgrades are priced separately and in writing, so it’s always clear who pays for what.
What affects your price
We price every project individually after an on-site inspection. These are the biggest factors:
- Scope: how many rooms, systems and trades are involved
- Hidden damage: wet framing, rot or mold found once walls are opened
- Materials & finishes: builder-grade vs. premium, and matching existing finishes
- Code upgrades: current code may require electrical, plumbing or structural updates
- Layout changes: moving walls, plumbing or gas lines adds cost
- Permit fees set by your city
